When I started my IG account, it became obvious that a follower favorite was our home office. It is also probably my most pinned room! Today I am happy to share a complete tour of this room and answer some of the most asked questions.
The office is one of the first rooms when you walk into our home. The large arched window faces the street and is the reason why this room gets the best lighting all day.
I’m constantly changing the decor in our office, specially the shelves and the desk, but two things remain constant – the tray on the corner of my desk which I feel anchors everything visually, and my “catch -all” tray that hides all my messy bills, notes, and more.
The wall colors in our home are Sherwin Williams Repose Gray and our trim is Sherwin Williams Extra White.
I recently moved this DIY wallpapered IKEA mirror into the space (tutorial coming soon!) and it has added a lot of dimension to the room. The decor on the shelves adds a natural element, which plays off the natural fibers of the rug. The shelves are also from IKEA and I love how airy they keep the room.
Since my iMac works off Wi-fi, there is not a need for a lot of cables in the room. The printer is plugged into an outlet behind the white cabinet and the computer connects to the printer via Bluetooth. Our cable box is located upstairs.
What’s inside the cabinets? All the things! Paint, crafts, paper, ink, envelopes and yes, even extra decor items! I like incorporating colors into the room through art and natural elements. The cacti in the room is real and requires little to no watering, and the branch and natural wood of the frames add warmth. The picture ledges allow me to change out the artwork easily, without having to constantly drill into the walls.
Centering the desk in the room allowed for a conversation spot on the other side of the room. I love sitting here to sketch or read. This is also where my kids will sit often to read or do homework on their laptops. This wall is my in-progress wall gallery and I plan to fill it up top to bottom.
I will say having a designated place to work at home makes me more productive! Until next time!
