I can’t believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner. The year 2020 might go down as one of the most memorable years but it is certainly a year when I have felt most thankful. There is something so special about Thanksgiving, beyond the history. The feelings of gratitude are often forgotten with the day-to-day. To have a day that commemorates everything we have to be thankful for is beyond special.
We spend a lot of time around the dining table so I wanted a centerpiece that was majestic but wouldn’t get in the way of conversation. I picked a large, wide bowl that would create the right amount of height and I filled it with hydrangeas which are perfect for filling up large vessels. I love the added smell of eucalyptus and the greenery gives it a fun, asymmetric look. Tip: Use a smaller glass or vase to bunch up your flowers together before placing it in your finished vase.
I picked up these burnt orange napkins to add the right amount of warmth to the space. I love how they look mixed with the stoneware and gold flatware.
I’ve kept the same hemp runner year round. I just love the added texture against the wood. And this fall I opted for these interesting okra-vase fillers, I think they’re so unique for the season!
Every year we go around the table saying the things or the people we are grateful for. My original idea was to fill in these placecards with their names, but then I thought why not leave them empty so everyone can write what they are thankful for! I remember reading when you write something down you are more likely to remember it and I loved the notion of my kids remembering writing on their thankful cards throughout the years.
